  • every member must participate fully in all group works;
  • each group shall prepare for class seminar;
  • concerned group will present its work, and the rest will actively participate in the discussion
Points will be earned on the basis of:-
  • individual performance on presentation – 5 points
  • group performance on the final seminar paper – 3 points
  • group and/or individual contributions during class discussions – 2 points
    Excuses of any kind shall not be entertained.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course explores the contemporary issues taking place in Tanzania's media industry. It traces back the historical development of mass media from pre-colonial times to date. The course orient students to understand in details, the dynamics of present day media environment as per socio-economic, political, technological, and professionalism in which media operate.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • To explore the history and trends in mass media industry in Africa/Tanzania
  • To examine current issues and developments in mass media industry in Tanzania;
  • To develop students' critical thinking about contemporary issues pertaining to operations, technologies, ownership and control of mass media in Tanzania.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this course, students will be able to:-
